It’s been such an exciting start to 2024 with award wins, nominations, client video projects, delivering courses and more!

First off, Team Share won the Two Short Nights 48 Hour Film Challenge hosted by Exeter Phoenix as part of their renowned Two Short Nights film festival, which challenges filmmakers to produce a short film in just two days, from ideation to edit.

Our team was given the genre of ‘sci-fi’, so of course, we had to create a parody B-movie alien adventure in the form of ‘Rise of the Gorgons!’, which went on to win the contest at a packed out screening.

The film and its win were even mentioned in Exeter Living Magazine as part of the write-up of the festival.

Two Short Nights and the 48 Hour Film competition are fantastic events, and we would definitely encourage any local filmmakers to enter or get involved next year!

We’re also incredibly proud to say we were also shortlisted for not one, but two business awards at the annual Exeter Living Awards! One of the most prestigious awards events in the city, presented by Media Clash.

We were shortlisted in both the ‘New Business’ and ‘Business Services’ categories, and were against some extremely deserving and tough competition!

We didn’t walk away with a win in the end, but to just be shortlisted against such established agencies and respected businesses was an honour, and a fantastic way to celebrate the first anniversary of Share!

As well as the excitement of the award and nominations, we’ve also been wrapping up some really impactful and interesting video projects for our clients, including the videos below for our friends at Headway -the brain injury association and Ready Player Code Club.

We’ve also been hard at work on multiple projects for other clients, including the School of Natural Skincare, the Games Rating Authority, and One Up Productions.

We also ran training workshops at Exeter Phoenix, including a day workshop in the graphic design app Canva, and another in camera confidence for business owners.

We’ve had some amazing feedback from both workshops which is of course always great to receive!

Below is a comment on the camera confidence workshop from cookbook author, blogger and influencer, The Slimming Foodie:

As part of our work for Exeter Phoenix, we also helped them arrange their Million Hour Fund youth workshops. These creative workshops, funded by the UK Government and the National Lottery Community Fund, were completely free for those attending and gave young people the chance to learn valuable creative career skills, including those who would otherwise perhaps not be able to afford such an experience, or the expensive equipment involved.

To help promote the workshops, Sam also spoke with Daniel Pascoe at BBC Radio Devon. Below is a short snippet of the interview:

So that wraps it up for this blog! Thanks for reading this far, and we’ll see you in the next one!
