Share: Year One

Wow. What a year!

If you’d have told me last December where this journey with Share has taken me so far, I most definitely wouldn’t have believed you!

Starting my own video production agency was something I’d always aspired to do since I was a teenager, with a focus on making the creative process fun and accessible. To be able to say that this dream is now a reality is incredibly special to me.

After working on the foundations of the business in February, including designing business cards and branding materials (and all the boring admin stuff!), I launched Share in March, starting to work with my first clients on projects and getting to grips with running my own business.

Since then, I’ve collaborated on multiple projects with a wide variety of incredible clients and organisations including the Games Rating Authority, the School of Natural Skincare, Coastal Recycling, Headway- the brain injury association, NHS, Perkins, the Exeter Chiefs and many more.

Share has produced 160+ pieces of video content over the past 10 months, working with an expanding list of 20+ organisations on everything from documentaries and explainers to animations and reels. From national charities and internationally recognised social enterprises, to government bodies and one of the world’s leading video game developers.

One of the stand-out experiences of the year has to have been working with esports production company, One Up Productions, to produce the League of Legends European Finals (LEC) event for Riot Games and flying out to Montpellier, France, to see it all come to life in front of thousands of fans. An absolutely unforgettable experience!

The business name ‘Share’ is not only in reference to the concept of ‘sharing’ video and marketing content online, but also in sharing our stories, our expertise and our experiences with each other; the idea of being socially conscious.

With this in mind, it was really fantastic to support the ‘Big Screen in the Park’ outdoor cinema event in August, organised by the amazing film team at Exeter Phoenix; collaborating with a range of local businesses and groups on a film screened in Nothernhay gardens.

It’s been a very busy end to the year too, continuing to work on this years projects and planning ahead for what’s next.

Looking forward to 2024…

We’ve got more exciting plans that we’re working on, including more video projects with brand new clients, as well as working with Exeter Phoenix to develop and deliver a range of creative arts and digital media courses and workshops for local young people.

I’ve also signed up and trained as an Arts Emergency mentor, a national charity seeking opportunities for underrepresented young people in the UK, looking to help young people aspiring to build a career in the creative industries.

For me, next year is all about building on the foundations of a fun and fantastic first year with Share, as well as launching a few more surprises…

I want to say thanks to my fantastic family, friends and amazing clients for such an incredible first year (or just under!) in business. Without your support and belief none of it would have been possible.

To end, I hope you all have an absolutely amazing Christmas, New Year and here’s to a successful 2024! 🎅

Thanks for reading,

Sam
